Eternal Genesis: Reversal of Duality 2.0
2025 - 2026
Video (40’’), print
Eternal Genesis 2.0 presents a digital environment built from the basic symbols of computer language. In this autonomous generative ecology, characters such as *, &, and + transcend their roles as rigid data points; instead of forming linear code, they cluster and branch to form textures that echo biological growth.
The work explores the fractal paradox: the emergence of infinite complexity from extraordinarily simple recursive rules. In forests, coastlines, and plant systems, similar shapes repeat and expand across different scales. Chen translates this idea into a digital space where the cold precision of ASCII dissolves into the fluid, self-organising patterns of the natural world.
Within the exhibition, the work suggests a landscape that exists before human presence. The viewer enters as an observer, encountering a system already active, expanding and evolving according to its own internal rhythms. Eternal Genesis 2.0 stands as an algorithmic garden where cold precision cultivates a warm, flowing aesthetic—a testament to the fact that even within a world of code, the laws of nature remain the supreme architect.
